AI startups love the “.ai” domain, but nobody heard about Anguilla, a tiny Caribbean island, just 15k people, which owns this domain. So far, around 400k “.ai” domains have been registered for ~$100 a year. This brings ~$40M ARR, which is roughly 10% of the island’s GDP! (my amateur calculation)
It’s located between the British Virgin Islands, which sell offshore companies, and St. Kitts and Nevis, which sell passports. Pirates’ archipelago, yeah :)
